BY GAMERS, FOR GAMERS

Description of Resource:

“By Gamers, For Gamers” is a resource to support parents and young children better navigate their introduction and experience of gaming. Co-designed with a cohort of teen gamers, aged 15-18 years, this resource speaks to the reality and everyday experience of gaming from types of consoles and games, through the answering questions about the concerns that parents often have. But, rather than being guided by experts in child development who have no lived experience of video games culture as it exists for young people today the video for parents, and guide for younger children is full of the real life advice and experience of gamers.

How is your resource seeking to build digital environments that foster children’s well-being?

By Gamers, For Gamers is a bringing a strength approach to discussions and supporting younger children and their parents navigate the gaming experience. By doing this we aim to offer something that supports a more respectful, calmer and less fear-based introduction to video games.
